A college senior who loves to get involved in her community and helping others, Julie, is determined to enjoy her time at Kent State University and acquire her degree in American Sign Language while making a difference in other people’s lives. Her ultimate aspiration is to work with the deaf in Colombia and to be able to afford them the same opportunities that the deaf in America have.


Scholarship Spotlight: Taylor Curry

Taylor’s father, 1SG Michael Curry, was a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. While serving a fifteen-month tour in Afghanistan, he was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

Brandon Pettaway is a senior attending Bryant University which has recently been featured in US Weekly as one of the top ten universities in the nation. He is a finance major with a concentration in sports studies. Brandon’s family is deeply connected to the military, as both parents were enlisted in the U.S. Army.
