About the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund

The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund was the vision of Freedom Alliance founders LtCol Oliver North, USMC (Ret.) and the late LtGen Edward Bronars, USMC. The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund honors Americans in our Armed Forces who have sacrificed life or limb defending our country by providing educational scholarships for their children.

The mission of the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund is two-fold. First, it helps offset the high cost of a college education for the sons and daughters of American heroes. Second, it is a reminder to the recipient that their parents’ sacrifice will never be forgotten by a grateful nation.

The dependent children of U.S. military personnel who have been killed or permanently disabled in an operational mission or training accident are eligible to apply. Also eligible are students who have a parent classified as a Prisoner of War or Missing in Action.
The generosity of patriotic Americans has made it possible for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund to award more than $7 million in college scholarships to the sons and daughters of American heroes.

About Freedom Alliance

The Mission of Freedom Alliance is to advance the American heritage of freedom by honoring and encouraging military service, defending the sovereignty of the United States and promoting a strong national defense.

Freedom Alliance, a 501(c) (3) educational and charitable foundation, was founded in 1990 by LtCol Oliver L. North, who now serves as the organization’s honorary chairman.

“I want to thank Freedom Alliance Founder & Honorary Chairman Oliver North, President Thomas Kilgannon, and all the members of the Freedom Alliance team who made my scholarship possible. It is only because of your generosity that I have the opportunity to do my very best at the University of Florida, and I deeply appreciate all of your support over the past years. I know I would not have had the current academic advantage if I was doing my studies and having to work to help pay my education & living expenses. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Thank you for letting me pursue my dreams, but also my dad’s dream of furthering my education. If it weren’t for you and all the supporters of Freedom Alliance this wouldn’t be possible.

I am extremely grateful to the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund and its generous supporters, and appreciate this opportunity that is deeply rooted in the military. Though I have received a few other scholarships from other helpful organizations, the one I received from Freedom Alliance has significantly stood out. The staff and supporters do everything they can to make it a personal experience. Through this scholarship, I know that my father’s sacrifice is not forgotten, and there are gracious individuals across the country who also respect and remember him through supporting me by their donations.

Freedom Alliance isn’t just a great organization, but a family. I began receiving a scholarship to help pay for college from the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund in the Fall of 2008, and not only did their assistance allow me to graduate debt free but their love and compassion for the scholarship students has no bounds. Freedom Alliance knows how to serve those who have served and their families. Without their support, I’m not sure where I’d be in my grief process. Words truly cannot express how thankful I am for their friendship.
