Scholarship Spotlight: Jacob Rangel

Posted by: faschola - 11/20/17

Jacob Rangel is a senior at Kutztown University  majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Public Relations, New Media and Digital Literacy. He is a dedicated and hard working student whose outstanding academic achievements have earned him a membership in the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society.  He loves giving back to his community which is why he does volunteer work with the Kutztown University campus chapter of Lambda Pi Eta and he is  also collecting food donations for a family in need over the upcoming holidays.

Jacob likes to keep busy during his summers off whether it is working as a camp counselor at JCC Camps or at the local veterinarian clinic. This past summer, Jacob was selected to be the 2017 Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund Student Ambassador. As Student Ambassador, he represented the hundreds of Freedom Alliance Scholarship recipients at various events, made media appearances and raised awareness of the help for, and sacrifices made by, military families. When he has some free time he enjoys a good work out, gaming and spending time with family and friends.

Jacob lost his father, Air Force Staff Sergeant Ray Rangel, in 2005 in Iraq while trying to save two soldiers trapped in a Humvee that overturned in a canal. SSgt Rangel was a firefighter with the 7th Civil Engineer Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base, near Abilene, Texas.

Through our Scholarship Fund, Freedom Alliance has supported hundreds of students like Jacob. To learn more or to apply for a scholarship, visit www.fascholarship.com.
