“I wanted to thank you very much for this scholarship grant which has helped my dream become a reality. This scholarship is very different from any other scholarships I’ve applied for or received in my life and I believe that’s because it’s allowing me to honor my father and all the other men who gave their lives for our country. This is something that I know would be very important to my father, who gave his life while serving his country in the United States Navy. And I feel very privileged to have this opportunity.”
Kyle Pelz
Kyle Pelz of Seven Fields, Pennsylvania, is studying Aeronautical Science at Embry Riddle-Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida. Kyle’s father, Lieutenant Commander Gerald Pelz, served in the U.S. Navy and was killed in action when his helicopter crashed during a training mission over the North Arabian Sea.
“My father died, when I was only three years old, while flying a helicopter in the U.S. Navy. My Dad started building something and I want to finish what he never finished. He’s always been a part of my life. Every time that I go for an aviation rating, I rub his pilot’s license and then put it in my pocket. It’s always been a dream of mine to finish what he was never able to close. Since then, I have dreamed of a career in aviation, but the cost of learning to fly was always a big concern. This scholarship will give me an opportunity to fulfill my dream and help me with the vast expenses that my family and I face. Thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart.”
